Grades 9-12 Mathematics


High School consists of grades 9 through 12.  The Troy School District Mathematics Department believes all students are doers of mathematics.

The Troy School District Mathematics Department believes all students are doers of mathematics. We believe that the purpose of our mathematics program is to cultivate students’ positive mathematical identities so that all students:

  • develop deep mathematical understandings
  • understand and critique the world through mathematics
  • experience the wonder, joy, and beauty of mathematics

Troy students will:
  • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
  • Reason abstractly and quantitatively
  • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
  • Model with mathematics
  • Use appropriate tools strategically

  • Look for and make use of structure
  • Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning

Graduation Requirements

Required Credits:  4.0
  • Algebra 1 - 1.0 credit
  • Geometry - 1.0 credit
  • Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 Part A & Algebra 2 Part B - 1.0 credit (or may be met through CTE program completion (e.g., OSTC)
  • Math Elective - 1.0 credit
*TSD high school math credits may be earned through a TSD middle school, but 4 credits of math must be earned while enrolled in high school.
 
*At least 1.0 credit, a full year of math, or a math-related 1.0 credit, must be successfully completed during the final year of high school.
