When is the first day of school?

All Troy School District students, with the exception of IA and Preschool, will begin the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. This will be a 1/2 day of school and students will attend in the AM only. Start and dismissal is per your school Building Schedule, listed below:

Our Explorers Before and After School Child Care Program (location at TSD Preschool only) is available during the school year on half days and early release days with a separate registration in our Explorers program. Space is limited.

Registration fees apply to any family not currently registered in the regular school year before and after school Explorers program.

We will not offer any after-school Explorers for the half days of school on August 30th, or 31st.

Technology & Portals

My child is new, where do we pick up technology?

Troy School District is a 1:1 device district . Kindergarten and 1st Grade students use classroom sets that are not brought home.

New students can pick-up a device at

their home school building from their Building Computer Tech during the first 2 weeks of school.

Each building also has a Building Computer Technician that is there a few days a week to assist your child and staff with technical issues and assign and replace devices.

How do I set up my Schoology Parent Account?

The Troy School District uses Schoology (pronounced: Skool’uh-jee), an award-winning Learning Management System that offers course management, mobile learning, and a communications hub, all in one integrated platform.

There are two types of accounts—STUDENT ACCOUNTS and PARENT ACCOUNTS. Student accounts are created automatically when they enroll. If you are new to Schoology and do not have students in the district with a Schoology account, then you will need to create a Parent Schoology Account.

With your parent account you can view your child’s class information (including teacher assignment), classwork, calendar and updates. This is your “one stop shop” for everything you need to monitor all of your children’s learning.

What is iPad Insurance and How do I pay for it?

Annual Accidental Damage Insurance Plan OPTIONAL

Each student in grades 2-12 who wishes to participate in the Troy School District 1:1 Device Insurance Program will be required to pay an annual insurance premium of $25 per student, not to exceed $100 per family. Kindergarten and 1^st grade students have classroom sets of iPads that are shared in the classroom and not brought home, thus, no personal insurance is needed.

Where do I find my child's school supply list?

Each elementary school publishes a supply list per grade level for their students each school year. Click one of the links below to find your child's school list.

How will I receive important messages from the district and my child's school?

As a parent/guardian of a Troy School District child, your contact information has been uploaded into the PowerSchool parent portal. This information will be used to contact you.

It is important that this information be updated or reviewed each school year for changes, i.e. phone numbers, addresses, contacts, etc... You can make changes by signing into your PowerSchool parent portal with the link button below.

We moved over the summer and I'm not getting messages?

We've moved, how to I update my Address or phone numbers?

If your address has changed, and you need to update your residency information, please contact the building secretary where your child(ren) currently attend. Address changes can now be initiated online. Addresses will not be changed until all required documents have been uploaded, and the online form has been approved.

Please log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account, select the option for Forms from the left menu, and fill out the Change of Address Form. Proof of residency for your new address is required to be uploaded in this form before the address change can be approved.

When will I know my child's bus number/stop and where can I find it?

Bus stop information will be imported into PowerSchool Thursday, August 24.

If your student is eligible for bus transportation, his/her bus time and transportation times to and from school are available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal. Here are the steps to view your student’s bus stop information for the school year.

Step 1: Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal:

Once you log in, click on the Bus Stop navigation link on the left side to view your child’s bus number, bus stop location, and estimated pick-up and drop-off times.

Please be sure to have your student at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Your child's bus number will appear on a placard on the side of each bus. Please remind your child to board the bus with his or her number on the placard.

Please note that all buses have video surveillance capabilities.

How do I update my child's medical information?

The Troy School District (TSD), is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all students! Updated Medication Authorization Forms and Medical Action Plans (MAPs), are required at the start of every school year and expire on the last day of instruction. The Medication Authorization Forms and MAP provides TSD with required medical direction from your primary, licensed health care provider and allows staff to provide services, such as, medication administration, medical interventions and/or medical procedures.

Update Medical Information

Please login to your parent portal and click Forms from the left menu. Click the Update Contact and Medical Information (Current School Year). If all contact information is correct, just check the Yes button under “The contacts listed below are correct and no changes are needed.” Make any contact or medical updates and sign and Submit the form.

Every family has a PowerSchool Parent Portal login. If you need help remembering your username or resetting a password, please email pssupport@troy.k12.mi.us.

District Breakfast & Lunch Menus

We are still encouraging families to complete a Free and Reduced Application, regardless of the fact that all meals are free this year. A free or reduced lunch status offers additional benefits to the student, including athletic fee waivers, club fee waivers, AP testing waivers, etc. See attached for the new Free and Reduced Application. Applications can be turned in to the Food Service Office at 4420 Livernois, or they can be dropped off at any of the school Front Offices. Secondary Students can pick up their breakfast from the cafeteria before school. Elementary Students must sign up by submitting a one-time enrollment form. Please complete one form for each of your children. Click the button below to access one-time enrollment form for elementary student breakfasts.

A La Carte items (snacks, beverages, extra entrees) are available for purchase. You may deposit funds to your student’s account via MySchoolBucks. The Food Service Department no longer uses SchoolPay for lunch account payments. TSD still utilizes SchoolPay for other auxiliary payments, such as field trips, t-shirts, supplies, etc. See attached flyer for more information.

Students are required to bring their Student ID cards through the line when they reach the cash register. The purpose of ID cards is to ensure that each student account is rung up correctly. This also provides quicker and smoother service. Beginning this school year, we will now provide Elementary Students with ID cards, instead of PINs.

Please keep an eye out for our September menus on the TSD Website. If any of your children have food allergies, please contact the Food Service Office to receive meal accommodations. You may also visit our nutrition website at troysd.nutrislice.com.

How do I pay for meals and snacks for my child?

The Troy School District has transitioned from SchoolPay to MySchoolBucks this school year for Food Services payments only. Your child can now easily pay for a la carte items online with MySchoolBucks!

If you have an existing MySchoolBucks account, you can simply log back in or create your free MySchoolBucks account to get started. And not to worry, any existing funds in your SchoolPay account will be automatically transferred into your MySchoolBucks account.

With MySchoolBucks you’ll be able to view cafeteria purchases, check your student’s balance, receive low balance alerts and pay for school snacks from anywhere!

Get Started Today:
1. Go to myschoolbucks.com or download the mobile app.
2. Create your free account or sign in with your existing MySchoolBucks account.
Note: To reset your password, click the “forgot my username or password” link from the login page
3. Add your students using their school name / student ID.
4. Add funds using your credit/debit card or electronic check.
Note: For each transaction, you will be charged a program fee of $1.00
5. Set up automatic payments and never forget to send in lunch money again.
