Many of our elementary buildings offer the opportunity for families to come to school to meet their new teachers and drop off supplies before school begins. These open houses are not conferences, but a more informal opportunity to say hello to your child's new teacher. Class placements in the Troy School District are the result of a comprehensive process where many factors are carefully considered, including academic needs, social dynamics, and individual strengths. My child is new, where do we pick up their iPad?

KINDERGARTEN, 1ST & 2ND GRADE IPADS:

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade students use assigned classroom iPad sets. These devices are kept in the classroom and not brought home. Preschool students are not assigned a device.

STUDENTS 3RD-12TH GRADE IPADS:

Troy School District is a 1:1 device district. NEW DISTRICT students can pickup an iPad, charging brick and cable at their home school building. The Building Computer Technician will assign an iPad with accessories to the student within the first 2 weeks. If after 2 weeks your child still has not been assigned an iPad with accessories, contact the TSD Technology Help Desk to arrange to pickup an iPad.

The Building Computer Technician is also able to assist your child with technical issues throughout each school day, replace devices, tempered glass or answer technical questions.

How do I set up my Schoology Parent Account?

The Troy School District uses Schoology (pronounced: Skool’uh-jee), an award-winning Learning Management System that offers course management, mobile learning, and a communications hub, all in one integrated platform.

There are two types of accounts—STUDENT ACCOUNTS and PARENT ACCOUNTS. Student accounts are created automatically when they enroll. If you are new to Schoology and do not have students in the district with a Schoology account, then you will need to create a Parent Schoology Account.

With your parent account you can view your child’s class information (including teacher assignment), classwork, calendar and updates. This is your “one stop shop” for everything you need to monitor all of your children’s learning.

What is iPad Insurance and How do I pay for it?

Annual Accidental Damage Insurance Plan OPTIONAL

Each student with an assigned 1:1 iPad who wishes to participate in the Troy School District 1:1 Device Insurance Program will be required to pay an annual insurance premium of $25 per student, not to exceed $100 per family. Kindergarten, 1^st and 2^nd grade students have classroom sets of iPads that are used in the classroom and not brought home, thus, no personal insurance is needed.

When will I know my child's bus number/stop and where can I find it?

Bus stop information will be imported into PowerSchool Friday, August 22.

If your student is eligible for bus transportation, his/her bus time and transportation times to and from school are available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal. Here are the steps to view your student’s bus stop information for the school year.

Step 1: Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal:

Once you log in, click on the Bus Stop navigation link on the left side to view your child’s bus number, bus stop location, and estimated pick-up and drop-off times.

Please be sure to have your student at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Your child's bus number will appear on a placard on the side of each bus. Please remind your child to board the bus with his or her number on the placard.

Please note that all buses have video surveillance capabilities.

We moved over the summer and I'm not getting messages?

We've moved, how to I update my Address or phone numbers?

If your address has changed, and you need to update your residency information, please contact the building secretary where your child(ren) currently attend. Address changes can now be initiated online. Addresses will not be changed until all required documents have been uploaded, and the online form has been approved.

Please log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account, select the option for Forms from the left menu, and fill out the Change of Address Form. Proof of residency for your new address is required to be uploaded in this form before the address change can be approved.

How do I update my child's medical information?

The Troy School District (TSD), is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all students! Updated Medication Authorization Forms and Medical Action Plans (MAPs), are required at the start of every school year and expire on the last day of instruction. The Medication Authorization Forms and MAP provides TSD with required medical direction from your primary, licensed health care provider and allows staff to provide services, such as, medication administration, medical interventions and/or medical procedures.

Update Medical Information

Please login to your parent portal and click Forms from the left menu. Click the Update Contact and Medical Information (Current School Year). If all contact information is correct, just check the Yes button under “The contacts listed below are correct and no changes are needed.” Make any contact or medical updates and sign and Submit the form.

Every family has a PowerSchool Parent Portal login. If you need help remembering your username or resetting a password, please email pssupport@troy.k12.mi.us.

Celebrate the First Day of School!

Mark the first day of school with your grade and a photo. Print the sign, hold it up, take a photo and share it with us on social media @troyschools (Twitter) or @troyschooldistrict (Instagram). No social media or printer? Showcase the sign on your child's iPad, hold in front of them like a sign and take a photo. Email your photo(s) to the TSD Comms Team and we may feature your child(ren) on a district or school website. Add their first name and their home school to the email.

Where do I find the daily breakfast and lunch menus?

We are still encouraging families to complete a Free and Reduced Application, regardless of the fact that all meals are free this year. A free or reduced lunch status offers additional benefits to the student, including athletic fee waivers, club fee waivers, AP testing waivers, etc. See attached for the new Free and Reduced Application. Applications can be turned in to the Food Service Office at 4420 Livernois, or they can be dropped off at any of the school Front Offices. You may also mail a hard copy to: TSD Food Service Department - 4420 Livernois, Troy, MI 48098

Secondary Students can pick up their breakfast from the cafeteria before school. Elementary Students must sign up by submitting a one-time enrollment form. Please complete one form for each of your children. Click the button below to access one-time enrollment form for elementary student breakfasts.

A La Carte items (snacks, beverages, extra entrees) are available for purchase. You may deposit funds to your student’s account via MySchoolBucks. The Food Service Department no longer uses SchoolPay for lunch account payments. TSD still utilizes SchoolPay for other auxiliary payments, such as field trips, t-shirts, supplies, etc. See attached flyer for more information.

Students are required to bring their Student ID cards through the line when they reach the cash register. The purpose of ID cards is to ensure that each student account is rung up correctly. This also provides quicker and smoother service. Beginning this school year, we will now provide Elementary Students with ID cards, instead of PINs.

Please keep an eye out for our September menus on the TSD Website. If any of your children have food allergies, please contact the Food Service Office to receive meal accommodations. You may also visit our nutrition website at troysd.nutrislice.com.

How do I pay for meals and snacks for my child?

The Troy School District has transitioned from SchoolPay to MySchoolBucks this school year for Food Services payments only. Your child can now easily pay for a la carte items online with MySchoolBucks!

If you have an existing MySchoolBucks account, you can simply log back in or create your free MySchoolBucks account to get started. And not to worry, any existing funds in your SchoolPay account will be automatically transferred into your MySchoolBucks account.

With MySchoolBucks you’ll be able to view cafeteria purchases, check your student’s balance, receive low balance alerts and pay for school snacks from anywhere!

2. Create your free account or sign in with your existing MySchoolBucks account.
Note: To reset your password, click the “forgot my username or password” link from the login page
3. Add your students using their school name / student ID.
4. Add funds using your credit/debit card or electronic check.
Note: For each transaction, you will be charged a program fee of $1.00
5. Set up automatic payments and never forget to send in lunch money again.

We appreciate you using this online option as a way to help reduce the amount of physical cash and check handling that would typically happen in the serving line.

Is TSD offering free breakfast & lunch this year?

We are currently operating under the Michigan School Meals Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. This program has been approved until September 2025. The future of this program, free breakfast and lunch, is uncertain as state lawmakers negotiate the education budget for the upcoming school year. The Michigan legislature is currently finalizing the 2026 budget, and we are patiently waiting for further information. We will proceed with free meals until we hear more. Please stay tuned for additional information.
