Smith Middle School Front Entry
Smith Middle School

The centerpiece of Series 1, a new Smith Middle School, broke ground in the spring of 2024. This endeavor is part of our commitment to providing a conducive and modern learning environment for our middle school students.  Exciting progress has been made on the new construction at Smith Middle School and the school is on track to open in the Fall of 2026. 

The new Smith Middle School will include state-of-the-art facility flexible classrooms and common areas for collaboration and community building, gymnasium and performance space, dining commons, visual and performing arts spaces, outdoor learning spaces, STEM lab, media center and more. 

Total Cost: $56M

Construction of New Middle School

  • Opening Fall 2026
  • Approx. 120,000 sq. ft. 
  • Completely new state-of-the-art middle school
  • Learning Community design
  • Classrooms/labs for science and technology
  • Spaces for student collaboration, project-based learning, and performance
  • STEM Lab
  • Commons/cafeteria, 3-court gym, and fitness area for students
  • Outdoor physical education/practice fields
  • Energy-efficient systems and natural lighting

Smith Middle School - 1 Year Build Progress

One year after the groundbreaking ceremony and the new Smith Middle School is really beginning to take shape! Coming soon is the demolition of two houses along Livernois to make way for the new driveway for the school.
