      • The Troy School District was named one of the 25 best school districts for new families by Relocate America.
      • The Troy Community was named Michigan's Best Place to Raise A Family by CNN Monday.
      • Expansion Management, a journal for executives making relocation decisions for their companies, gave the Troy School District's its highest ratings in evaluating educational opportunities in communities.

  • All schools awarded Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary Status - The Michigan Blue Ribbon is awarded to schools based on academic achievement, accreditation, school organization and culture, student focus and support, curriculum, quality teaching, and family and community partnerships with the school. All schools in the Troy School District have earned this prestigious honor.
  • Named Michigan’s #1 Sportstown by Sports Illustrated for its outstanding sports programs - The selection is based on a variety of criteria that demonstrates a community's involvement in facilitation and enhancing quality sports. Communities are judged in the following categories: philosophy, policy/procedures, education and training strategies, youth development strategies, community commitment to parks and recreation resources, innovations for community development, and scope of programming.
  • 99.5 percent graduation rate - The Troy School District is committed to ensuring academic success for its students. The district has a number of programs that are designed to ensure students are successful at school. These programs include such support services as Reading Recovery, HOSTS, Niles Community High School, and high school level Schools Within a School.
  • The Troy Public Library recognized as Michigan’s best - The Troy Public Library is an informational, educational, cultural and recreational resource for the community. Programs and activities at the Library are free. The library offers valuable programs for all ages and interests including lapsit storytimes, job search assistance, art and cultural exhibits, and even Steamers Coffee Shop.

  • Athens and Troy high schools named among the nation’s 96 best high schools by U.S. News and World Report - U.S News and World Report identified outstanding high schools in the United States in 1999. The magazine looked at state test scores, percentage of students taking the SAT or ACT, Advanced Placement test taking, and persistence (graduation in four years) rate.
  • Michigan’s second most diverse city - The City of Troy and the Troy School District enjoys a diverse populations, with more than 70 religious institutions and over 80 languages spoken in our schools.
  • All schools meet the stringent requirements for accreditation by the North Central Association - The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) is a non-governmental, voluntary organization that accredits more than 9,000 public and private schools in 19 states. To be accredited, schools must: Meet NCA CASI's quality standard and criteria, which requires a broad and rigorous curriculum, highly qualified staff, appropriate pupil-teacher ratios, safe and secure facilities, and other components necessary to provide a quality education; Implement a school improvement plan focused on increasing student performance.; host at least two peer review/evaluation visits during the school improvement cycle; and document the results of their school improvement efforts.
  • Honored as Michigan’s safest city - Morgan Quitno Press released their 11th annual analysis of FBI Crime reports that places Troy as the safest city in Michigan and among the top 20 nationally.
  • 54 National Merit Semifinalists - Semifinalists represent the top one percent of high school students in the United States.
  • Excellent facilities - Thanks to the generous support of the Troy community, city and school district services are located in modern and updated facilities. The City of Troy has recently opened a new recreation center, complete with child care, fitness, indoor pool, teen room, and community meeting space. The Troy School District voters recently approved a $119 million bond issue, which will result in a five to ten-year renovation and construction program that will improve every district facility. A center piece of the program includes the replacement of Baker Middle School and the creation of a middle years International Baccalaureate program.
  • Troy is located in one of the most prosperous counties in the U.S. - Oakland County ranks second in per capita income for counties with over one million people and it holds a coveted, triple AAA bond rating by both Standard and Poors and Moody's, putting the County in the top one percent of all counties.
