When you receive a letter stating your child has been approved by the State of Michigan to receive free or reduced meals, please note that we have discretely marked your student’s record to show he/she is entitled to a “prepaid” lunch.
For elementary students:
- Your student will either enter their pin number (the noon aides will work with new students on this) or use their student ID card (some elementary schools are using cards). The student’s name will appear, and the noon aide will see that the student’s lunch is “prepaid”.
- The student is entitled to one full meal per day. If a student would like an extra entrée, the student must pay for the extra entrée.
- If a student only wants juice or milk, they must pay the ala carte price for it
For middle and high school students:
- All students MUST use their ID cards in the secondary buildings. This not only keeps the lines moving efficiently, but it also helps to accurately identify your child as a “prepaid” student. If they have lost their card, they need to go to the office for a new card.
- This approval covers a FULL LUNCH only – it does not cover ala carte items, snack items or to select a beverage only.
- The definition of a full lunch is the “Real-Meal Deal” of the day, a “Combo” OR an Entrée with Fruit, Vegetable and Milk.
If your child is to receive a REDUCED meal, please note that they must pay a portion of the cost of this meal. At this time, a reduced meal costs $.40.
Sincerely,
Gayle M. Moran
