All Troy Schools are accredited by the North Central Association. The Troy School District is also one of only eight in Michigan to hold districtwide accreditation.

The Troy School District has six national exemplary schools and all schools have received the prestigious Michigan Blue Ribbon honor.

The Troy School District has been named one the Best Communities for Music Education for the past two years.

Troy School District students and staff are honored for excellence at both national and state levels.

Both Athens and Troy High Schools are two of five schools statewide to have exemplary athletic programs.

Troy students are among the top performers on state and national standardized tests.

The Troy Board of Education is one of 11 boards in the State of Michigan to earn the Standard of Excellence Award and one of eight to earn the Visionary Leadership Award. The Board has also been named the ArtServe board of the year in 2007 and 2008 for its support of the Fine Arts.

The Troy School District has been named one of the 25 best places in America for families who are seeking to relocate to a new community. The Troy community was also named Michigan's best small city and the nation's 22nd best for its quality of schools, parks, and other municipal services.

Thank you for your interest in Troy’s Schools of Choice program. Each year, the district offers a limited number of spaces in our schools for out-of-district students entering Full-Day Kindergarten or First Grade. Again next year, we will also be offering a limited number of slots at Baker Middle School.

Some years, we can accommodate every child who applies--other years we have to hold a lottery. Applications for Full-Day Kindergarten, First Grade and Baker Middle School will be available on this web page beginning March 2, 2012. We maintain an email list for parents interested in receiving information about the 2012-2013 Schools of Choice programs. If you are interested in being added to that list, please email Nancy Trott at ntrott2@troy.k12.mi.us.

Please see the following for the number of available slots in each program:

Full-Day Kindergarten and 1st grade information:
For the 2012-2013 school year, the Board of Education voted to accept 100 Full-Day Kindergarten students and 30 First Grade students.

If you are interested in our Schools of Choice Program for Full-Day Kindergarten and First Grade, please click HERE for a list of important dates in the application process.

Please note, there will be an Open House for Full-Day Kindergarten and First Grade Schools of Choice on February 28 at 7p.m. in the Troy Services Building, 4420 Livernois.

Baker Middle School Information:
For the 2012-2013 school year, the Board of Education voted to accept 25 students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade at Baker Middle School (25 total, not 25 in each grade.)

If you are interested in our Schools of Choice Program for Baker Middle School, please click HERE for a list of important dates in the application process (note: the parent information night for this program will not be held until after the lottery for available slots.)

Other important information:

* We try our best to accommodate building requests for Full-Day Kindergarten and First Grade Schools of Choice students (either your first or second choice) but we can't always guarantee your child will be placed in the building you request. When there are more Schools of Choice requests for a particular school than spots available, we use the lottery number to determine preference order.

* In order to register under Schools of Choice once you have been offered a slot, you must bring your child's original birth certificate (a copy will be made,) your child's immunization record and two proofs of residency (this can be a utility bill, your lease or closing statement, etc. Anything other than personal mail is acceptable.)

If you have any additional questions, please email Kerry Birmingham at kbirmingham@troy.k12.mi.us or Nancy Trott at ntrott2@troy.k12.mi.us.
