When to Apply for a Position

We encourage all interested persons to complete an application as soon as possible. If you monitor our Job Openings page and have a completed online application, you can quickly add a Job Code to your application when you see a position for which you are qualified and for which you wish to be considered. It will just take seconds.

Some individuals may not wish to take the time to complete an application until a position of interest appears in our Job Openings. It's your choice. The benefit to completing an application now is that there are times when filling a position immediately is critical and there may not be time to advertise the position. In these circumstances, your application will already be available for us to review.

You should know that if you do not complete your application within thirty (30) days, your application will be considered incomplete and deleted from your database. Also, you should know that if we determine you have more than one application in our database, your most recent application will be kept and all others will be deleted.

Applying for Advertised Positions

Teacher, administrator, and secretarial positions are posted on this website. To express your interest in one of the listed positions, open your completed online application and click on the appropriate Open Jobs listing on this website. Once you've located a job in which you're interested, click on the "Apply for Job" link, and the job will automatically be added to your application. This is the only way we will know you are interested in a certain job. You may apply for additional Job Codes any time you wish. Please do not complete a new application when you apply for additional positions.

After applying for a teaching position you will be prompted to participate in our web-based preliminary interview. You will be prompted within your online application. Please note the instructions of using your application number preceded by a 9 and only participate in this interview once, regardless of how many positions you apply for. Please do not use your social security number.

Support staff positions are also posted on this website. If you have completed an online application and you want to apply for a listed position, open your application and click on the appropriate Open Jobs listing on this website. Once you've located a job in which you're interested, click on the "Apply for Job" link, and the job will automatically be added to your application.

In order to provide staff with additional information about your qualifications, you are requested to upload your supporting documents to your online application.

Teachers and Administrators: Resume, transcripts from degree-conferring colleges and universities, credentials and/or letters of recommendation, certification

Secretaries: Resume, transcripts from degree-conferring colleges/universities, letters of recommendation

Support Staff: Resume, letters of recommendation, licensing/certification (if required for position)

If you completed an online teacher, administrator. clerical or support staff application, you must upload scanned copies of requested information by accessing your application and clicking on "Upload Documents." The material you upload must be in .pdf or .tif format at no more than 600 dpi resolution. Scanned materials received in other formats cannot always be opened and viewed. It is to your advantage to upload your documents into your online application so that staff may view your entire application file. If you do not have access to a scanner, please visit the local library or local copier business to arrange the use of their scanner. Please limit your uploaded documents to a maximum of fifteen (15) pages. Do not fax, email, or send supporting documents to the District.

Checking the Status of a Posted Job

Online applications. If you applied online for a posted position, you can monitor the Job Openings on this website for information. If the position is no longer listed, it means that we are no longer accepting applications for the job, the position has been filled, or the District has decided not to fill the job.

You can contact the Human Resources Department at 248.823.4000 to check the status of a particular job. If you were interviewed for a specific position by a member of our staff, but are not being recommended for the position, you should receive a telephone call or letter from a District representative indicating you are no longer being pursued for that particular job. If you applied for a specific position, but were not invited for an interview, you will receive an e-mail message from the District's Human Resource Department if you filed an online application.
